As I sit right here typing this, I’ll be leaving for the Chicago Comics as well as enjoyment Expo (C2E2) put on by those fine people at Reed Exhibitions (preceded by one of those fine merchant summits organized by diamond Comics). Sadly, as always seems to be the case, I seem to never have as much done in advance as I usually plan to… since I have — actually — eight hours before making the 3 hour or so drive (depending on traffic) to McCormick Place.
Oh, sure, I’ve got my clothes ready, however I haven’t packed my service cards yet (which handled to be the one thing I failed to remember last year), nor have I grabbed a few books to get signed. Of course, that’s one thing I’ve done on a regular basis the past few years; get books signed. I don’t take stacks of comics, though. I will normally get hold of a handful of hardcover collections I really, truly take pleasure in rereading to get signed. The issue there, though, is that I have to bring them around. It’s gotten to the point that annually I state “I’m not bringing this much crap next year.” as well as I’ve done a quite great job.
Casanova Luxuria
This year though, I truly do want to try something different. If I take a book, I’m believing it’ll just be my Casanova Luxuria hardcover, as well as the only reason I’m believing of that is since I wished to introduce myself to Matt fraction after having the enjoyment to exchange emails with him a couple of years back when we right here at Westfield Comics teamed-up with Project: Rooftop for the Iron guy Invincible upgrade contest . That, as well as a fellow fan by the name of Jason who pointed out it to me earlier this week!
Honestly, I’ll most likely wait to see if I keep in mind to get hold of it before I leave in the morning. I believe it’s fair to leave this to the fates.
Another modification this year is that I plan on going to at least one panel. (It most likely wouldn’t be a horrible idea, seeing as exactly how I co-host a podcast that focuses on a single publisher. ideally I can discover some doughnuts before it, too.) looking back I believe part of the reason I haven’t gone to a panel in ten years (wow!) is since I never cared for much of the programming that was done for the main convention I went to (the other big convention in the “Chicago” area).
All of this talk about conventions reminds me exactly how much I miss all the excellent good friends I don’t see as commonly as I’d like to. Oh, as well as all the Chicago dogs I’m just dying to eat.
And if you see me, be sure to state hi!
I understand there wasn’t much point to this column this week, however I don’t truly care as well horribly much. I believe the fundamental idea, really, is to be sure you go to a convention or two while you can. It doesn’t have to be a “big” convention. I hear excellent things about the conventions MCBA puts on, as well as they get excellent guests!

Anyway, I’m exhausted. I likewise requirement to get copious amounts of sleep before a convention someday, too, since I always get less sleep than typical during them, as well as not much in advance since I’m always running around crazy.
Note to self: get the service cards early, as well as just be sure you have lots of clean laundry the weekend before.

That’s it for this week… next week, I’m intending to tell you about all the remarkable good friends I got to hang out with as well as the new good friends I made!
Oh, as well as delighted Saint Patrick’s Day!!! I’ll be trying to find a eco-friendly river!
